Palm Beach Fishing

Palm Beach got its name from a shipwreck. The Providencia was sailing from Mexico to Spain with a cargo of 20,000 coconuts when it ran aground on what was then known as the lake region. Coconuts were scattered in the area and palm trees grew, givng the are a new name, Palm Beach. Not only are there many shipwrecks to fish offshore of Palm Beach, but many reefs, rocks, ledges, and other structure that hold fish.

Fishing inshore waters around Palm Beach provides anglers with many different species of fish, including Bluefish, Cobia, Pompano, Snook, Spanish Mackerel, Tarpon, and many species of Jacks and Snappers.

On the many reefs and shipwrecks nearshore of Palm Beach, there is good Amberjack, Barracuda, and King Mackerel fishing. There are also good bottom fishing on these structures that hold Triggerfish, Snapper and Grouper.

Fishing offshore of Palm Beach, anglers find lots of Blackfin Tuna, Mahi-mahi, and Wahoo. There is also excellent billfishing offshore, with Sailfish being one of the most popular catches much of the year.
